Breast milk dams are an event where the venous and lymphatic flow is blocked, the flow of milk becomes obstructed and the pressure on the mother's milk ducts and alveoli increases. The cause of breast milk dams is due to blockages and increased blood vessels and lymph vessels, as well as milk buildup. This dam can occur after the third day of giving birth which lasts 24 to 48 hours.Breast milk dams are caused by several factors, namely: The mother's breasts are not
completely empty, during lactation the production of breast milk will increase in the mother so that the production will be excessive. Errors in breastfeeding techniques cause the nipples to become sore and pain occurs when breastfeeding the baby.This causes the mother to no longer want to breastfeed her baby and experience breast milk dams. Breast milk dams can occur if the mother's breast milk does not come out at all, known as agalaksia, then low milk production is known as oligolaxia, and very low milk production. many but not expelled is known as polygalaxia
