Background : Prolonged labor is one of the complications of childbirth that can increase the risk of morbidity and mortality for both the mother and the baby. This condition can occur due to various factors, such as contraction abnormalities, fetal abnormalities, or birth canal abnormalities. Prompt and appropriate handling is essential to prevent further complications. Methodology : The writing of this report uses a case study approach with a comprehensive midwifery care method. Data were collected through interviews, observations, physical examinations, and documentation studies of the laboring mother named Mrs. L, who experienced prolonged labor at the Isgiarni Clinic. Care
was provided according to the steps of the midwiferyprocess, which include assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. Results : After the assessment, it was found that Ms. L experienced prolonged labor due to uterine inertia (weak uterine contractions). Midwifery care was provided in the form of close monitoring of labor progress, emotional support, and timely referral to a referral facility according to medical indications.
Conclusion : Management of prolonged labor requires early detection and midwifery care that meets standards to ensure a safe delivery process and prevent complications. The care provided to Mrs. L shows that appropriate interventions can expedite the labor process and enhance the safety of both the mother and the baby.
