Abstract
Background Pulmonary Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, a rod-shaped bacterium that is resistant to Acid-Fast Bacilli (AFB). The disease is transmitted through droplets released when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks. Objective This study aims to develop and implement family nursing care management with a service excellence approach for patients with pulmonary tuberculosis in Bangun Rejo Village, Tanjung Morawa District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra Province. Method The research used a descriptive case study approach, with data collected through interviews and direct observation. The data obtained were presented in a narrative form to describe the implementation of family nursing care management through the stages of assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation based on
nursing care standards. Subject The subject of this study was Mrs. S, a 58-year-old woman diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis, residing in Bangun Rejo Village, Tanjung Morawa District, Deli Serdang Regency. The study was conducted from March 9 to 12, 2025. Result The findings revealed four primary nursing problems: ineffective airway clearance, nutritional deficit, noncompliance, and ineffective family health maintenance. These issues became major challenges in providing family nursing care, affecting the effectiveness of treatment, therapy adherence, and
quality of life. Conclusion The management of nursing care focused on maintaining respiratory function, fulfilling nutritional needs, and empowering the family to manage home health sustainably. This approach successfully contributed
to achieving the study’s goal of improving the overall outcomes of pulmonary tuberculosis care.
