Abstract

Elderly individuals experience a phase of life marked by physiological decline and increased risk of degenerative diseases such as hypertension. Hypertension often presents without symptoms but may lead to serious complications if not properly managed. This study aims to implement gerontological nursing care management using a service excellent approach for Mrs. N, an elderly patient with
hypertension at the UPTD Social Services for the Elderly in Binjai. This study employed a descriptive case study method using a nursing care approach encompassing assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation. Data were collected through interviews,
observation, and physical examination. The identified nursing diagnoses were acute pain, sleep pattern disturbance, and knowledge deficit. Nursing interventions
included health education, relaxation techniques, and emotional and spiritual support. Evaluation results showed decreased pain levels, improved sleep quality, and enhanced patient understanding of her health condition. The results indicate that the application of gerontological nursing care with a service excellent approach can improve the quality of life in elderly patients with hypertension.
