Abstract
Menstrual abnormalities are crucial signs of decreased reproductive system function, which may raise the risk of a number of illnesses such uterine cancer and infertility. Extrovert and introvert individuals have differences in their adjustment to the environment including the stress they experience so that personality type can be linked as one of the factors that can affect the menstrual cycle in each individual. At STIKes Mitra Husada Medan in 2020, it was found that there were 18 respondents (51.4%) who experienced menstrual cycle irregularities with an introverted personality type, namely 22 respondents (62.9%). The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between introverted and extroverted personality types on the menstrual cycle at STIKes Mitra Husada Medan Tahin 2020. This kind of study employs cross-sectional methodology, quantitative research, and analytical surveys. 133 STIKes Mitra Husada Medan undergraduate midwifery students made up the study's population. Purposive sampling was employed to collect samples from 35 of these students. The chi square test was used in the data analysis process. The results showed that there was a relationship between the introverted
personality type and the menstrual cycle as many as 22 respondents (62.9%), while the respondents who experienced the extroverted personality type were 13 respondents (37.1%). The results of the bivariate analysis showed that X2 = 10,756 ; value = 0.001 which means that there is a relationship between personality type and menstrual cycles in undergraduate midwifery study programs at STIKes Mitra Husada Medan in 2020.Suggestions for health workers with this research are expected to increase knowledge so that they can become counselors for adolescents who experience menstrual disorders.
