Abstract
Background: World Health Organization (WHO) in 2021 the number of cases of dysmenorrhea in the world is very high, increasing by around 1,769,425 people (90%) women with severe dysmenorrhea around 10 – 15%. Dysmenorrhea causes impacts on young women, including feeling tired, pain in the area below the waist, feelings of anxiety and tension, headaches, confusion, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps and stomach ache as well as disruption of activities. Providing warm compresses and Dysmenorrhea exercises is a non-therapy pharmacology to reduce pain. Aim: This research aims to determine the effect of giving warm water compresses and dysmenorrhea exercises on reducing dysmenorrhea pain in young women. Methods: This research uses pre-extremental research with a two-group pre-post test design approach. The population in this study were all female students of XI IPA SMA N Batam in 2023. The sample consisted of the warm compress intervention group and the dysmenorrhea exercise intervention group, each with 15 respondents. Results: Research on changes in the intensity of menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) between the groups given warm compress treatment was 1.750, while in the group given dysmenorrhea exercise treatment it was 1.13. Conclusion: This study concludes that warm compresses are more effective in reducing menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) than dysmenorrhea exercises. Suggestion: It is hoped that respondents will use warm compresses or dysmenorrhea exercises as a non-pharmacological therapy for treating dysmenorrhea.
