Abstract

Background: Data from the World Health Organization in 2021, the number of maternal deaths in the world was 391,000 people (WHO, 2022). Every year,the ministry of Health’s family health program records indicate an increasing
incidence of maternal deaths.In Indonesia,7.389 people died in 2021.Compared to 2020,when there were 4.627 fatalities, this figure indicates an increase.According to the cause, COVID-19 was responsible for the majority of maternal deaths in 2021(2.982 instances),hemorrhage(1.330 cases),and pregancy-related hypertension(1.077 cases).(Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, 2022). Method: This study is an analyical observational study,which means it looks for a relationship between two variables.This study’s design employs a cross-sectional approach,which is a study that is carried out using a singel observation and
measurements made on a singel character or subject variable during the study perioded.(Rizaldy & Dyah, 2021). This study looked for the relationship between personal hygiene knowledge and urinary tract infections in pregnant women at H. Adam Malik Hospital where the study only made one observation. In this study, the number of samples based on the Slovin formula was 63 samples. Results: Based on the research results, 18 respondents (50.0%) experienced urinary tract infections with good personal hygiene knowledge. Meanwhile, pregnant women who did not experience urinary tract infections with good personal hygiene knowledge were 18 respondents (50.0%). Conclusion: From the results of research on the relationship between personal hygiene knowledge and the occurrence of urinary tract infections at the H. Adam Malik Hospital in 2023, it can be concluded that the majority of respondents have poor personal hygiene knowledge and have symptoms of urinary tract infections.
