Abstract
Background: The hormone progesterone is out of balance in primary dysmenorrhea, which results in uterine contractions and activates each person's pain response. Since menarche, women have experienced menstrual discomfort, which interferes with everyday activities and lowers quality of life. Pain may be reduced by increased blood flow and muscle tone. Purpose of the study: To determine the difference in the mean reduction of primary dysmenorrhea pain in warm compresses and classical music. Methods: This study was a quasi experiment with two group comparison pretestposttest design . The subjects of this study were 30 female students who suffered from dysmenorrhea and met the criteria. Data analysis used Wilcoxon test and Mann Whitney test .Results: According to the study's findings, the average primary dysmenorrhea pain before and after receiving warm compresses was 6.47 and 1.40, respectively, with an average drop of 5.07 (p = 0.000). This indicates that receiving warm compresses had an impact on lowering primary dysmenorrhea pain. The average decrease in primary dysmenorrhea pain after listening to classical music was 4.7, with the mean pain levels before and after being exposed to it being 6.40 and 2.33, respectively (p=0.000). The Mann Whitney test findings indicated p = 0.000, indicating that there was a difference between the ways that warm compresses and classical music reduced the discomfort associated with dysmenorrhea. Conclusion: Warm compresses are more effective in reducing primary dysmenorrhea pain .
