Abstract
Background: Continuity of Care in midwifery is a comprehensive and continuous service provided to postpartum mothers to improve the health status of both mothers and infants. Breast engorgement is a common problem during
the postpartum period caused by inadequate breast milk drainage, resulting in fullness, pain, and swelling of the breasts. Breast engorgement is related to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Goal 3, which aims to improve
maternal and child health. According to the World Health Organization, the global exclusive breastfeeding coverage in 2024 was approximately 44%, while the target for 2030 is at least 70% (World Health Organization, 2023). The Indonesian Ministry of Health Decree of 2022 states that around 20% of
postpartum mothers experience lactation problems between the third and seventh days after childbirth (Minister of Health Regulation No. 6 of 2024). In accordance with the Indonesian Midwife Competency Standards (SKKNI) and Minister of Health Regulation No. 6 of 2024, midwives play an important role
in providing comprehensive postpartum care. Furthermore, according to Siti Nurmawan Sinaga (2024), Continuity of Care is a continuous service provided from pregnancy through family planning to improve the quality of maternal and
infant health. Data were collected through interviews, observations, physical examinations, and documentation using the SOAP method. The care provided included education on proper breastfeeding techniques, breast care, warm compresses, oxytocin massage, and recommendations for regular breastfeeding according to the infant's needs. The results showed an improvement in the mother's condition, with reduced breast pain and swelling, smoother breast milk
flow, and improved ability to breastfeed correctly. Continuous midwifery care for postpartum mothers experiencing breast engorgement can effectively address
the problem and enhance maternal comfort and health.
