Abstract
Background : Breast engorgement is an abnormal condition in the breast, generally caused by blocked milk ducts or inadequate breast emptying. This study aims to determine the factors influencing breast engorgement at Rahmad Hidayah General Hospital in 2025.
Method : This research is a cross-sectional research method, namely the researcher studied the risk factors using a backward research direction. The population was all postpartum mothers who experienced breast milk engorgement at Rahmad Hidayah Hospital in 2025. The number of samples used was 38 people obtained using the total sampling technique, namely the entire population was sampled. The data analysis technique used Chi Square.
Results : The results obtained in this study are that there is a significant influence between age with a p value = 0.010 (p value <0.05), the influence of education with
a p value = 0.002 (p value <0.05), the influence of parity with the incidence of breast milk dams with a p value = 0.004 (p value <0.05), and there is no influence of physical factors with the incidence of breast milk dams with a p value = 0.951 at Rahmad Hidayah Hospital in 2025.
Conclusion: There is an influence between the variables of maternal age, education, and parity, but for physical factors there is no influence on the occurrence of breast milk engorgement.
