Asuhan Keperawatan Gerontik Pada Ny.S Dengan Osteoporosis Di Desa Bangun Rejo Dusun Viii Kecamatan Tanjung Morawa Tahun 2023

Osteoporosis is a bone disease characterized by a decrease in overall bone mass (bone density) due to the body's inability to regulate bone mineral content accompanied by architectural damage which causes a decrease in bone strength or bone loss. Osteoporosis is also defined as a disease with the characteristics of low bone mass. low with changes in bone microstructure, so the quality of bone tissue is reduced due to increased bone fragility with an
increased risk of bone fractures (Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, 2021).Elderly data according to the World Health Organization (WHO, 2020), namely the percentage
of the world population aged 60 years and over since 2015, around 15%, increasing to 24% in 2020. The number of osteoporosis. sufferers in Indonesia is much larger, estimated at 19.7% of the total population or around 3.6 million suffer from osteoporosis. The prevalence of women suffering from osteoporosis. in the 60-65 year age group in Indonesia is 24% for men aged 60-70 years, 62% in the elderly (Suarni, 2019). The number of elderly residents in North Sumatra Province is recorded at 631,604 people. The number of elderly people in good condition was 242,999 people, 215,787 people in good condition and 172,818 people in poor condition.From the results of research conducted by the author entitled Gerontic Nursing Care for Mrs. S with a Diagnosis of Osteoporosis in Bangun Rejo Village Dusun VIII in 2023, data was obtained that 5 out of 50 elderly people aged 55 years and over suffer from Osteoporosis, so that Osteoporosis is the 5th largest non-communicable disease. Therefore, the author is interested in raising the case of Osteoporosis as a case study to compile and provide Gerontic
Nursing Care to elderly people who experience osteoporosis. Therefore, there is a great need for the role of nursing students in efforts to solve the problem of Osteoporosis, which is suffered by some people in Bangun Rejo Village, Dusun VIII, using prevention and counseling methods for the community and the elderly who suffer from Osteoporosis.
