Abstract

Anemia is a condition in which the number or size of red blood cells, or the level of hemoglobin in the body, falls below the established normal value. Objective: This study aims to apply maternity nursing care management using a service excellence approach to Mrs. R, a second-trimester pregnant woman diagnosed with anemia at Pera Clinic, Medan Tuntungan District. Method: The research employed a
descriptive case study method to explore problems related to anemia in pregnant women. The nursing process approach included assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. Results: The assessment results indicated that Mrs. R exhibited signs and symptoms of anemia, characterized by complaints of fatigue, frequent dizziness, and a measured hemoglobin level of 9 g/dl. Based on these findings, interventions focused on providing nutritional
education tailored to the needs of pregnant women, regular monitoring of vital signs, improving tissue perfusion, and offering continuous emotional support to reduce anxiety and enhance client compliance. Nursing care was implemented
systematically by addressing both the physical and psychological needs of the client. Evaluation revealed improvements in the client’s condition, both physically
and psychologically, as indicated by reduced fatigue, increased ability to carry out daily activities, and adherence to consuming iron tablets as recommended.
Conclusion: The findings of this study are expected to serve as a valuable reference for healthcare providers, particularly maternity nurses, in delivering professional,
holistic nursing care services oriented toward improving the quality of life of pregnant women with anemia.
