Abstract
Hyperemesis gravidarum is a condition of excessive nausea and vomiting that interferes with daily activities and the general condition of pregnant women becomes worse. The condition of prolonged nausea and vomiting in pregnant women, experiencing weight loss of more than 5%,experiencing dehydration, experiencing nutritional deficiencies, ketomuria, and electrolyte imbalance is also called hyperemesis gravidarum. The impact of this situation can have a negative effect on the mother and fetus (Lu, L. et al., 2021). According to WHO (World Health Organization), the number of pregnant women who experience nausea and vomiting reaches 12.5% of the number of pregnant women in the world (WHO, 2018.) In Indonesia alone, 50-90% of pregnant women experience nausea and vomiting. In general, pregnant women can adjust, even though the symptoms of nausea and vomiting last for 4 months. According to the North Sumatra Health Service, the maternal mortality rate in North Sumatra. As of July 2021, the maternal mortality rate in North Sumatra (Sumut) has reached 119 cases. As of July 2021. For this reason, the North Sumatra Provincial Government (Pemprov) continues to implement various programs or activities to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates. Among other things, collaborating with USAID or the United States Agency for International Development in the MOMENTUM Program. Namely a program to improve access and quality of health services for mothers and newborn babies, so that maternal and newborn deaths can be prevented. In North Sumatra, the MOMENTUM Program is implemented in Deli Serdang, Asahan, Langkat and Karo Regencies. Based on recording and reporting at the Santi Meliala Inpatient Pratama Clinic in 2023, 50% of cases of pregnant women undergoing examination experienced hyperemesis gravidarum. Based on this background, the author raises the case of maternity nursing care for Mrs. F With Hyperemesis Gravidarum at the Santi Meliala Inpatient Primary Clinic.
