Abstract

Background: The World Health Organization (WHO) stated that in 2020, the maternal mortality rate reached 287,000 women. Nearly 95% of all deaths occurred in low- and middle-income countries. The cesarean section rate was 74%, with one-third of deaths due to cesarean sections being influenced by postpartum hemorrhage (33%), preeclampsia (19%), and sepsis (22%).
Objective: This study aims to determine the factors influencing Caesarean section delivery.
Method: Descriptive analytical design using secondary data from medical records. The population and sample used by the researcher were all mothers who gave birth at Wahyu General Hospital, Medan Tembung District, North Sumatra Province,
from January to December 2023, amounting to 110 deliveries.
Results: This study used a chi-square test to determine the effect of preeclampsia on the incidence of cesarean section delivery with a result of P = 0.039 <0.05, did not affect the history of cesarean section with a test result of P = 0.163>0.05, did not affect fetal weight with a result of P = 0.617>0.05, affected gestational age with a value of P = 0.048 <0.048, abnormal position with a value of P = 0.032 <0.05 and influenced between non-progressive labor and the incidence of cesarean section delivery with a test result of P = 0.048 <0.05.
Conclusion: After conducting the analysis test, the results showed that preeclampsia, gestational age, abnormal position, and non-progressive labor had a significant relationship with the incidence of cesarean section delivery. History of cesarean section and fetal weight were not related to the incidence of cesarean section delivery at Wahyu General Hospital, Medan Tembung District, North
Sumatra Province in 2024.
Keywords: Preeclampsia, gestational age, abnormal position, non-progressive labor, history of cesarean section and fetal weight.
