Abstract

Preeclampsia is still common in both pregnant and postpartum women. One factor that can contribute to the onset of preeclampsia is the age of the pregnant woman. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the age of the pregnant woman and the incidence of preeclampsia. The research design was a correlational analytic, cross sectional approach, the population was all pregnant women in the second and third trimesters in Gelampang Gading Village, Lingge District, Central Aceh Regency, in April-May 2025, totaling 32 people. The sample was 32 respondents selected by purposive sampling. Data collection used secondary data documentation in the form of maternal and infant cohort data, and was analyzed using statistical analysis using the Pearson correlation test with a significance level of 0.05. The results of the study showed that the majority of pregnant women were of healthy reproductive age (20-35 years), namely 21 respondents (70%), and 9 respondents (30%) were of reproductive age at risk (<20 years and >35 years). Most pregnant women did not experience preeclampsia, namely 22 respondents (73.3%). Statistical analysis showed a relationship between maternal age and the incidence of
preeclampsia in Gelampang Gading Village, Lingge District, Central Aceh Regency in 2023 (ρ 0.000; r 0.757). Pregnancy and childbirth are not recommended for women under 20 and over 35 years of age due to the high-risk age range. In pregnant women who are too young, the reproductive organs are not fully mature, thus carrying a higher risk of
preeclampsia. Meanwhile, women who are too old carry a higher risk of preeclampsia due to reduced reproductive function.
