Abstract

Pneumonia is one of the acute respiratory tract infections that remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among children under five, especially in developing countries. Objective: This study aims to implement excellent service–based pediatric nursing management for patient A (An. A) with pneumonia at the Ministry of Health’s
H. Adam Malik Hospital Medan in 2025. Method: The author used a descriptive method with a case study approach through five stages of the nursing process: assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.Subject: The subject of this study was patient A, who was treated in the RB4 Pediatric Ward of the same hospital. Results: The assessment identified four main nursing diagnoses: ineffective airway clearance, ineffective breathing pattern, hyperthermia, and nutritional deficit. Interventions were carried out according to standards, including respiratory monitoring, positioning in semi-Fowler’s, oxygen administration, collaboration in drug administration, and nutritional fulfillment. Evaluation results showed improvement in clinical conditions, such as more effective coughing, improved breathing patterns, normalized body temperature, and increased appetite. Conclusion: The systematic and service excellence–oriented implementation of
nursing care proved effective in supporting the recovery of children with pneumonia, and this scientific paper is expected to serve as a reference for improving the quality
of pediatric nursing care services.
