Abstract

Background: Gestational hypertension is a condition in which pregnant women who have never had a history of hypertension or previously had blood pressure that was always within normal limits, but when the mother is pregnant, the mother's
blood pressure increases after entering the 20th week of pregnancy. Purpose This Study: was to determine the factors that influence the occurrence of hypertension in pregnant women (age, parity, and BMI).
Research Method: used an analytical survey with a case-control design (Casecontrol Study). The population and sample of this study were all pregnant women recorded in the registration book from January to December 2023 at the Ridos
Inpatient Primary Clinic, there were 36 respondents who experienced hypertension. Using a retrospective approach, with a Chi-square statistical test.
Results The Study: showed a relationship between maternal age and the incidence of gestational hypertension with a p-value of 0.009 < 0.005. There was a relationship between parity and the incidence of gestational hypertension with a pvalue of 0.000 < 0.005. There was a relationship between maternal BMI and the incidence of gestational hypertension with a p-value of 0.000 < 0.005.
Conclusion: from the research results shows a p-value of 0.009 for age, a p-value of 0.000 for parity, and a p-value of 0.000 for BMI in relation to the occurrence of
hypertension. It can be concluded that there is a relationship between age, parity, and BMI with the occurrence of pregnancy-induced hypertension.
Suggestion: healthcare professionals improve their methods to reduce the incidence of pregnancy complications, particularly gestational hypertension, by providing education and knowledge to pregnant women and explaining the risks associated with pregnancy.
