Abstract

Stunting or short is one of the indicators of chronic nutritional status that describes stunted growth due to long-term malnutrition. Riskesdas data in 2018 showed the prevalence of stunting in toddlers in Indonesia was 30.8%. Conditions in Indonesia based on data from the 2019 Indonesian Toddler Nutrition Status Study (SSGBI) are still relatively high, where the prevalence of stunting is 27.67%, this figure shows that stunting in Indonesia is still higher than the prevalence in Southeast Asia of 24.7%. This study is an observational analytical study using a case control design retrospective research. The study was conducted
in the Sigompul Health Center Working Area, Humbang Hasundutan Regency, from April to July 2022. The sample size in this study was 18 cases and a control sample was taken with a ratio of 1: 1, namely 18 people. So the sample size is 36 people. The sampling technique in this study is Consecutive sampling. The results of the study showed that maternal knowledge was related to stunting with a p value of 0.007 <0.05 with an odds ratio of 9.1 (1.99 - 41.44). It is hoped that mothers who have toddlers will increase their knowledge about the factors causing stunting and can take early prevention.
