Abstract

Background: Stunting is a problem of body failure and growth in toddlers that lasts a long time. There are 22.2% of children under the age of 5, around 150.8 million children experiencing stunting in the world in 2017. The country of Indonesia has the highest number of stunting in the province of East Nusa Tenggara in 2017 and 2018. The province of Sumatra has a prevalence rate of 7.4 % and at the Samortani
health center there are 36 toddlers in 2020. The purpose of this research is to find out the factors. which affects the incidence of stunting in toddlers in the Puskesmas Work Area. Sonomartani, Kualuh Hulu District, North Labuhan Batu Regency in 2022. Method: This research is an analytical survey and has a cross-sectional study design. All mothers who have stunted children are in the Work Area. Sanomartani
Health Center as many as 26 people are the population. There are 26 respondents with a total sampling technique to obtain the desired data. Calculation of data using chi square.
Results: The results obtained were that the majority of mothers' knowledge was good, namely 15 people (57.7%), the majority of feeding patterns were not good, namely 17 people (65.4%), the majority of exclusive breastfeeding were not given exclusive breastfeeding, namely 16 people (61.5%) ), the majority of stunting status is short stunting, namely 16 people (61.5%). And there is a correlation of knowledge
(p = 0.000), feeding patterns (p = 0.000), exclusive breastfeeding (p = 0.004), with incidence. stunting in toddlers. Conclusion: There is a correlation between knowledge, feeding patterns, exclusive breastfeeding and incidence. stunting in toddlers. The suggestion in this research is that mothers must add their knowledge of nutrition to food and implement it by providing a good diet.
