Abstract
Background : Postpartum hypertension is a condition when a mother experiences high blood pressure after giving birth, blood pressure typically increases after delivery for more than the first 24 hours, peaking at 3-6 days after delivery, the increase in blood pressure usually reaches> 140/90 mmHg to <160/110mmHg. The postpartum period begins after the birth of the placenta and ends when the reproductive organs return to their pre-pregnancy state. Method : The type of research used in this study is quantitative which is used to obtain data that occurred in the past or when classified in the form of data. The design of this study is observational analytic, namely a case control design that concerns how risk factors are studied using a retrospective approach. The independent variables in this study are history of hypertension, age and parity. While the dependent variable is factors related to the incidence of hypertension in postpartum mothers at RSUP Haji Adam Malik Medan in 2023. The sample and population in this study in the group of
cases suffering from hypertension in postpartum mothers were 28 people at RSUP Haji Adam Malik Medan in January - December 2022. Results : From 28 respondents, there is a relationship between age and the incidence of hypertension in postpartum mothers where the p.value is <0.05 (p =0.007). There is a relationship between parity and the incidence of postpartum hypertension where the p.value is <0.05 (p = 0.032). There is a relationship between the incidence and history of postpartum hypertension where the p.value is <0.05 (p = 0.000). Mothers who are at risk (<20 years and> 35 years) so that this makes the incidence of hypertension in postpartum mothers high at 71.4%. mothers with parity at risk were 19 respondents so that the incidence of hypertension in postpartum mothers was 67.9%. And in mothers
with a hereditary history of hypertension, there were 22 respondents so that this was the highest factor causing hypertension in postpartum mothers with a figure of 78.6%.
Conclusion : There is a significant relationship between a history of hypertension, age, and parity with the incidence of hypertension in postpartum mothers at the Haji Adam
Malik General Hospital, Medan in 2023
