Abstract
Background. Breast milk is the best food for babies, especially in the first 6 months (exclusive breastfeeding) and continued up to 2 years. Breastfeeding is the best way to meet nutritional needs. However, there are still many mothers who do not breastfeed their children properly. One
of the obstacles is that breast milk is lacking or nonexistent. Many factors affect the smoothness of breast milk, one of which is contraception. Contraception is a drug to prevent pregnancy. Objective. To analyze the relationship between the use of 3-month injection contraceptives and
the success of exclusive breastfeeding in PMB Rosa Hulu, Bawozaua Village, Teluk Dalam District, South Nias Regency. Method. Observational analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The population of this study were 3-month injection KB acceptors who had babies older than 6 months-2 years in PMB Rosa Hulu, Bawozaua Village, Teluk Dalam District, South Nias Regency in 2024, totaling 48 respondents. The data collection tool used a questionnaire.
Data analysis used Chi-Square. Results. Bivariate use of 3-month injection contraceptives on the success of exclusive breastfeeding with sufficient criteria of 45 respondents (95.9%) and no criteria of 3 people (4.1%). Statistical tests showed a significant relationship between the use of
3-month injection contraceptives on the success of exclusive breastfeeding (p <0.05). Conclusion From this study, it was concluded that there was a relationship between the use of 3-month injection contraceptives on the success of exclusive breastfeeding in PMB Rosa Hulu, Bawozaua Village, Teluk Dalam District, South Nias Regency in 2024.
