Abstract

Adolescence is a transition from children to adulthood at the age range of 12-22 years which is followed by a process of physical and psychological maturation. This period is
related to a physical phenomenon associated with puberty. dysminorea is pain that occurs during menstruation. It can interfere with daily activities if not treated, non pharmacologically, it can be done with one of the relaxation techniques to treat dysminorea with yoga. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of yoga exercise on the decrease in the intensity of menstrual pain in class X adolescents of SMA N 1 Salak, Pakpka Bharat Regency. This type of research is pre-experimental with one group pretest posttest design. The population of this study were all 175 students of class X SMA N 1 Salak. The sample of this
study was 35 female students, the sample was taken using purposive sampling method. The independent variable is Yoga exercise and the dependent variable is menstrual pain. The
research instrument used the measurement of the Face Pain Scale - Revised (FPS-R) pain scale. Processing data using editing, coding, scoring, tabulating with spearman Rank data
analysis. The results showed that before doing yoga, nearly half of the respondents experienced menstrual pain on a scale of 3 (more pain) with a total of 16 respondents
(45.7%). Meanwhile, after doing yoga exercises, almost half of the respondents experienced menstrual pain on a scale of 1 (a little pain) as many as 12 respondents (34.3%). The
Spearman rank statistical test shows that  value = 0.000 <α (0.05) so that Ha is accepted. So it can be concluded that there is an effect of yoga exercises on reducing the
intensity of menstrual pain (dysminorea). From the results of this study, it is hoped that yoga exercise can be used as a non-pharmacological action to reduce the dysminorea scale and help young women to reduce their consumption of pain relievers.
