Abstract

The high rate of contraceptive dropout in Indonesia, reaching 40%, is a particular concern as it can trigger unwanted pregnancies. Side effects such as changes in body weight, irregular menstrual cycles, and the appearance of dark spots often make users feel uncomfortable and decide to stop using Under-skin Contraceptive Devices (AKBK . Objective: To study the relationship between side effects and the incidence of
dropout in the use of Under-skin Contraceptive Devices(AKBK) at PMB Erna Wati, Lawe Sumur District, Southeast Aceh Regency in 2024 .
Methods: This type of research is analytical research with a cross-sectional research design. The research population was 45 people with a total sampling technique. Data analysis was carried out univariately and bivariately using the Chi Square test.
Results: The research results showed that the majority of respondents experienced side effects, namely 20 respondents (51.1%) and the majority of respondents experienced AKBK dropout, namely 29 respondents (71.1%). Statistical test results showed a p-value of 0.006 (< 0.05), which means there is a significant relationship between side effects
and the incidence of AKBK use dropout .
Conclusion: There is a relationship between side effects and the incidence of AKBK dropout. It is recommended for health workers to improve counseling regarding the effectiveness and management of AKBK side effects so that dropout rates can be reduced.
