Abstract

Background:Factors Associated with Bleeding Incidentsn Post Partum at H. Adam Malik General Hospital Medan, North Sumatra in 2023 One of the problems that has not been resolved is the effort to reduce maternal mortality. Because the Maternal Mortality Rate is an indicator to determine the health status in an area, this is related to maternal deaths during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum. Postpartum hemorrhage is bleeding that exceeds 500 ml after the baby is
born. If not treated immediately, bleeding can cause shock, and if it continues can cause death.
Method: The type of research in this study is quantitative research with an observational analytical design with a case-control approach. The instrument used is a retrospective checklist sheet. This study was conducted at the H. Adam Malik General Hospital, Medan, North Sumatra and this study will be conducted from April 2023-June 2023.
Results: Based on the results of bivariate analysis with chi square test, there is a relationship between age and the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage where the p value <0.05 (p = 0.000) with an OR value of 54.54. Parity (p = 0.020) OR 3.49. Obtaining a P value <0.05 on the variables of uterine atony, placental retention and birth canal laceration based on Fisher's Exact Test because there are cells with a
frequency value of less than 5 and one of the cells is 0. Uterine atony (p = 0.005). Placental retention (p = 0.000). Birth canal laceration (p = 0.001).
Conclusion: It was concluded that there was a relationship between age, parity and complications of childbirth (atony, placental retention and uterine atony) with the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage.
Keywords: postpartum hemorrhage, age, parity, uterine atony, placental retention, laceration of perineum
