at birth. This condition can be caused by several factors, including pregnancy (malnutrition, maternal anemia, miscarriage), preterm birth, or placental disorders that limit the baby's nutrient supply. Objective was to analyze the relationship between a history of abortion and the
incidence of low birth weight babies at Wahyu General Hospital. Methodology This research used quantitative research, with a case-control design. The population consisted of 34 babies with a 1:1 sample size, consisting of 17 cases and 17 controls. Data collection used total sampling, and the data analysis used the chi-square test. Results: 11 respondents (32.4%) had a history of abortion,
while 17 respondents (50.0%) had low birth weight babies.
Results of the statistical test using chi-square with a probability value of 0.003 (P < 0.05) showed a relationship between a history of abortion and the number of Low Birth Weight Babies at Wahyu General Hospital. Conclusion Mothers with a history of abortion are at risk of giving birth to Low Birth Weight Babies, which can cause blood vessel disorders and decreased reproductive and hormonal functions during pregnancy at Wahu General Hospital, Medan Tembung.
