Abstract
Background: Basic health research data in 2018 showed the prevalence of stunting under five in Indonesia was 30.8%. Conditions in Indonesia based on data from the Study on the Nutritional Status of Toddlers in Indonesia 2019 are still relatively high, where the prevalence of stunting is 27.67%, this figure shows that stunting in Indonesia is still higher than the prevalence in Southeast Asia of 24.7%. Stunting can be influenced by many factors, one of which is the mother's
knowledge of nutrition during infancy during growth and development. This study aims to determine the relationship between mother's knowledge and the incidence of stunting in children in the work area of the Sijama Polang Health Center. Methods: This research is an observational analytic study using a retrospective case control study design. The sample size is 36 people, where the ratio of case and control samples is 1:1. The sampling technique used is consecutive sampling. Data were analyzed using bivariate analysis with chi square statistical test by comparing the p value with the alpha value (p <0.05). Results: The results of statistical tests showed p value 0.007 <0.05 with an odds ratio of 9.1 (1.99 – 41.44). From the results of the bivariate analysis, it is known that there is a relationship between maternal knowledge and stunting. Conclusions: Hypothesis 1 is accepted, namely there is a relationship between Mother's Knowledge and Stunting Incidence in the Panteraya Health Center Work Area. It is recommended
for health workers to carry out outreach efforts in increasing public awareness in stunting prevention.
