Abstract
Preeclampsia causes 50,000 to 60,000 deaths worldwide per year. This makes preeclampsia a major cause of maternal and perinatal mortality and morbidity. This research uses a cross-sectional study design and is an observational analytical study. Cross-sectional research can be used to determine the relationship between risk factors and disease incidence at one point in time. The population in this study was all 65 preeclamptic mothers at RSU H. Sanuddin Kuta Cane. The number of samples taken is the same as the entire population. The results of the study showed that there was no significant relationship between preeclampsia and newborn asphyxia, however, preeclampsia was a risk factor for
asphyxia (P>0.05). Most of the preeclamptic mothers at RSU H. Sanuddin Kuta Cane Kec. Southeast Aceh was diagnosed with mild preeclampsia by doctors and only a small percentage experienced severe preeclampsia. Most of the newborns
were born to preeclamptic mothers at RSU H. Sanuddin Kuta Cane Kec. Southeast Aceh did not experience asphyxia
