Abstract

Pulmonary TB is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Transmission occurs when a pulmonary TB sufferer whose BTA test results are positive
coughs or sneezes and spreads germs into the air in the form of phlegm droplets. A pulmonary TB sufferer with positive BTA can infect 10-15 people around him. Based on the World Health Organization (WHO) report in 2023, the estimated number of people diagnosed with pulmonary TB in the world will reach 10.6 million people. The eight countries with the highest number of cases are generally in the Asia and Africa region, in the order of India 27%, Indonesia 10%, China 7.1%, Philippines 7%, Pakistan 5.7%, Nigeria 4.5%,Bangladesh 3.6%, Democratic Republic of Congo 3%. It is estimated that there are around 1,060,000 pulmonary TB sufferers in Indonesia. This case study research aims to implement Excellent Medical Surgical Nursing Care Management for
Mr. H in the Lung Infection Inpatient Room at RSUP. H. Adam Malik, North Sumatra Province. In 2024, this case study research used descriptive qualitative methods. The sample in this case study research is Mr. H with pulmonary TB, the results of the case study are that the patient is able to cough effectively well, is able to apply nonpharmacological therapy (with warm water compresses on the painful area and deep breathing relaxation techniques), the patient is able to finish eating and eat regularly. Nursing care was carried out for 3 days with an evaluation of the nursing problem being resolved and the patient continuing to implement it in daily life.
