Abstract
Background : According to the Central Bureau of Statistics, in the province of North Sumatra, the highest contributing district was Medan City with 1,333 cases infected with HIV/AIDS, followed by Deli Serdang district with 221 cases infected with HIV/AIDS and the lowest in Humbang Hasundutan district, with 1 cases (Central Bureau of Statistics, 2017).
Method : The type of research used in this study is analytic with a Case Control Study research design. The purpose of this research is to find out the relationship between the independent variabel and the dependent variabel and to find out which variabel is dominantly related to the dependent variabel. The population in this study were all pregnant women with HIV/AIDS who were treated at Haji Adam Malik General Hospital in Medan City for the period January-December 2022. The sample used in this study was a case group of 39 pregnant women with HIV/AIDS and a control sample of 39 mothers. Normal Pregnancy. The analysis
technique used in this study was univariate analysis, bivariate analysis using the chi-square method and multivariate analysis using the logistic regression method.
The research instrument used in this study was a checklist sheet.
Result: The results obtained in this study were characteristic factors (Age, Occupation, Education) with results (Age P Value : 0.000, OR : 13.920, CI : 4.184 – 46.312, Occupation : P Value : 0.047, OR : 3.125, CI : 1.130 – 8.639,
Education : P Value : 0.031, OR : 0.246, CI : 0.077 – 0.793). Risk factors (Sexuality, History of Blood Transfusion) with outcome (Sexuality : P Value : 0.027, OR : 10.154, CI : 1.193 – 86.427, History of Blood Transfusion : P Value : 0.019, OR : 5.636, CI : 1.421 – 22.361). and Use of needles does not have a significant relationship with the incidence of HIV/AIDS in pregnant women because P Value : 0.673 > 0.05, OR : 2.133, CI : 0.364 – 12.551).
Conclusion : There is a significant relationship between characteristic factors (age, occupation and education) with the incidence of HIV/AIDS in pregnant women, and there is a significant relationship between risk factors (sexuality,
history of blood transfusion) with the incidence of HIV/AIDS in pregnant women, and needle use injections have no significant relationship with the incidence of HIV/AIDS in pregnant women.
Suggestion : It is hoped that future researchers will deepen the research specifically and add variabels that support further research and be able to use other approaches such as cross-sectional and other statistical tests using primary
data, different variabels and with different sample sizes.
