Abstract
Postoperative hysterectomy wounds require optimal care to prevent infection and accelerate healing. Although various modern wound dressings are available, conventional wound care remains widely used in healthcare settings, particularly due to limited resources. This study aimed to describe nursing care management with a service-excellent approach through conventional wound care intervention in a postoperative hysterectomy patient. The case involved a 32-yearold woman diagnosed with post caesarean hysterectomy due to total placenta previa and Placenta Accreta Spectrum (PAS) grade 2, a condition in which the placenta abnormally adheres deeper into the uterine wall but does not penetrate
the myometrium. Wound care was performed on the third postoperative day using 70% alcohol, 0.9% NaCl solution, sterile gauze, and adhesive plaster, accompanied by a thorough nursing assessment before and after the procedure. The findings revealed that the tissue integrity disturbance associated with surgical trauma had partially resolved. The wound showed good healing progress, characterised by the
absence of infection signs, skin colour around the wound resembling the surrounding tissue, and a decrease in pain intensity from Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) score 3—indicating mild to moderate pain—to score 2, indicating mild pain. The wound appeared clean, dry, and gradually closed. Further wound management was continued by the outpatient nursing team. This study concludes that conventional wound care remains effective in promoting the healing of
postoperative hysterectomy wounds when performed under aseptic principles, supported by careful observation and effective therapeutic communication between nurses and patients.
